Covenants are rules,regulations and restrictions relating to a property, which are stated in the lease or title deeds. A covenant is a requirement or restriction to do or not to do something i.e. not to have pets within the property or build an extension etc etc.

Land covenants can restrict certain uses of land or property and are sometimes called restrictive covenants. These will normally have been put in place by a landowner or developer and these covenants can be passed down through generations.
If you have ever bought a leasehold flat you would have entered into a lease agreement with the freeholder/landlord to lease the property for a fixed number of years.

Most of these types of policies are obtained through your lawyer. They do not tend to be readily available with the high street insurers and therefore there is little ability to be able to shop around on price.
