I've been reading up on the law for fire Risk assessment after seeing a post in the insurance ask the expert section. The expert Andy has answered the question very well and between him and the poster it seems there is a grey area with these assessments. The poster asked whether a property (like a block of flats) is insured if a fire risk assessment has not been carried out.Apparantly the insurance companies are not even asking to see one and the problem is only highlighted when someone goes to sell.I bet there are thousands of blocks that have not has one carried out even tho it has become law to do so.The worry therefore will be that if a block should burn down whether the insrance company would pay if you havent got a fire risk assessment.
